5 man oro/FA farm. Minion master with an enormous minion army just completely owning everything.
Oh, how I miss the old verata's aura and no minion cap...

The weekend beta events, telling my wife I wouldn't exist that weekend, going out with an elementalist solo and running through a fire-skill rotation to nuke the stone elementals, and thinking I was so leet because of it. Then standing at a skill trader waiting for some person to sell their meteor or phoenix skill ring.
My first GvG romp in live after having done plenty of HA, and thinking that it was the greatest PvP experience I had ever had.

Looking back in retrospect, I remember many creative builds and people. I remember Sissy Boys holding the Hall of heroes for 40 times (around there). I remember when HA is connected to PvE and actually gives the players a purpose to play HA. I remember how the r9's back then are so much better than the r9's these days. Oh, the good old times.

It was funny how orginally if you used a touch range skill or an attack skill, while running to someone it could be interupted before you reached the target.
That was about the time touch rangers were really taking off(the second vamp touch didn't exist so it was vamp touch + touch of agony), they would be so easy to handle because you would just run, throw a d-shot or savage (savage had a crap recharge then though) at them while they were running to you and when they got there they would just stand there having lost their skills.
Same was the case with any warrior (expecially thumpers and their i-blow spam).
@Jarus
You didn't happen to of taken the screen shots for the orginal gw box did you ....... build design seems similar in a way

Templates and pinging skill bars did not exist. You had to write the 8 skills you had...this usually led to problems, and lying for some reason

During the beta, having to use the in-game mail system in order to communicate because the friends list was screwed up showing people randomly 'off line'.

How about tombs run with i think 5 Barrage/Pet ranger's 2 order's and one monk. And when you got to the end you had to kill 3 Mesmer bosses. All you ever did was spam Barrage. good times tough

A tombs run with a 5 man balanced (we started with 8 but 3 left, including one of the monks) and succeeding anyways with good old fashioned warrior tanking, back when it had first changed.

Drok's runs with a warrior was the only way people did it..... and drok's runs were actually profitable back then. So long ago I almost forgot about Droks running in general.

Oh and the real kicker is we used to actually have to form groups to complete missions *gasp* what were they thinking?

Yeah I remember when GW was a fun grouping game. I remember when it was easy to get in a group for HALLS and I liked the first way you got in their best killing the Wraiths in a certain amount of time.
Guild Wars is so kiddiefied now. An 8 year old could play this game with ease and hardly ever if ever have to group with others. Heroes are so overpowering with the skills and weapons we can put on them you don't even have to play. I can take just my heroes to the First City area in Nightfall and just watch them play and don't have to do anything but guide the way we are going and pickup the loot. Where's the fun and challenge in that? Yes it's hard mode so don't even try to tell me to play hard mode there. It's totally amazing how far I can get in each chapter with just myself and 3 heroes. I can do most of Kourna with 3 heroes and myself and lord knows just about all of Prophecies now. I don't play Factions much but when I do I can still do a lot of the areas with just myself and 3 heroes.
But, you see how that makes the game? What's the use of pugging now really since we all know humans are much smarter than AI right? Well, most anyway I've played with we have just streamed through all the content easily since all the changes. When the new weapons for Prophecies came out I went in 10 groups and only 1 bombed and even that one on the 2nd time through passed. It's really getting to the point of "What's the use of even playing anymore?" there's just nothing challenging or fun anymore and repetive play of FOW/UW/DOA and the others have gotten long over boring as repitition is the most boring thing in life. "Unless it's Sex" but, heh, even that can get old and boring if you do it too much.
So, I think a lot of people have this idea that everyone suks in GW now when it's more the opposite now. Most of us have had so long to play it we are all pretty much experts now.
Oh you'll always get the crap from those with no brains that say "that build will never work it's not on wiki" lol, but, I just ignore them. I've made 100's of builds not on wiki that do just fine. Put on heroes even better than I can play them. Like my water magic blinding necro with SS as it's elite. That's all she does is keep the mobs blinded and SS them with the occassional direct damage spell if we need it vs some boss that heals faster than it can be damaged. Makes it very simple to do melee groups as they can't hit what they can't see. But, you would have retards that say that build suks. That's another thing gone wrong in this game too many retards who think they are leet now and really know less than most. Most of them from the pvp community as well.
I think a lot of people forgot what roleplaying really is or never knew though. It's not about maximizing DPS or kill ratios to cost of spells. It's about playing any character and skill makeup "You" enjoy. It never should come down to you can't play with us because your build sucks. That's so "out of character" for players to do they shouldn't even be allowed to play. That's why I enjoy RA and FA and JQ, nobody can tell you the build to bring into the battle. Nobody can kick you out of the group. Everybody gets to play the way they want to and not be dictated to about how awful their character or build sucks.
Anyways enough reminising and telling what has ruined GW. It's ruined and they aren't going to turn back the clock and make the game what it used to be when it was fun. So, moving on to find out where Nicholas is this week.

Good times indeed. I miss 2005, best time in GW.
I played one beta weekend, it was the E3 public preview and I was hooked. Not sure why I never played the other beta weekends but I followed its development and got it a few days after it came out.
First time I went into FoW, instant party wipe.
Never came back until a few months after.
lol good old times.
I still remember hunting web pages to see how a certain armor looked.
No insgnia so the look of the armor came with a certain stats that you can't change.
Also when everyone was confused about FoW armor, how to get it and thinking that it had different looks depending on stats like other armors.

Anyone remember the blue flame FDS hoax? And the bugged double-grip Scavengers of Ascalon axe?
Also remember there was at least one person in every PUG demanding that everyone skips the cutscene.
Oh yeah, and getting lost in The Wilds because no one knew the way hahaha
